Apartment House was founded in 1995, and quickly became the UK's leading ensemble for experimental music. On April 24th Apartment House celebrate their 25th year with a typically adventurous concert launching three of their most recent CDs. As well as the world premiere of a new work by composer Eleanor Cully, the concert presents premieres of works by Ryoko Akama (from her highly acclaimed CD 'Dial 45-21-95'), Slovakian composer Adrián Demoč (from his extraordinary CD 'Ziadba') and the Brazilian/Dutch composer Luiz Henrique Yudo, whose works are transcriptions into sound of visual artworks (from the brand new CD 'Chamber Works'). The concert is co-hosted by Music We'd Like To Hear and Another Timbre, the label which released all of the featured CDs, as well as several others with Apartment House.
'...the series has become a central hub of a community that centers in London but overlaps with other near and distant localities, both in programming and in the visitors drawn to it.'

POSTPONED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

Podcast We'd Like to Hear
We have produced a podcast in lieu of our concert scheduled for 24 April 2020, which would have celebrated Apartment House's 25th anniversary and launched Another Timbre's April batch of discs, including its 150th release. This concert had to be postponed due to COVID-19, and in order to raise funds in support of the musicians who were scheduled to play, Simon and Anton have graciously agreed to provide a curated playlist for this podcast. These are preceded by interviews, conducted remotely from our homes, during the initial lockdown in early May. The podcast is available for download by voluntary donation.

We are a collective of musicians and composers who, since 2005, have been creating a one-of-a-kind space where we welcome listeners to come together to share and celebrate new and neglected contemporary music. We hand-pick the programmes with the aim of sharing our fascination and enthusiasm with everyone. We provide a platform for creative & experimental work, for showcasing emerging talent, and for promoting learning and collaboration.

As a not-for-profit organisation, our ability to sustain this series depends solely on ticket sales, funding awards, and donations, with all of the proceeds going towards the musicians and composers. We strive to keep ticket prices affordable so that as many as possible can experience these exceptional events.

Please consider supporting Music We'd Like to Hear with a one-off or regular donation. Every contribution helps us to continue providing this space for inspiring music from our world-wide community.
